What I’ve been doing since my GSO experience

Professionally, I think my GSO experience led me to further explore international opportunities. Currently I am competing a 4 month internship in Grenada with the International Youth Internship Program. My GSO trip last year was also in Grenada. I fell in love with the country and wanted to return. I believe my experience with GSO helped me be selected for the IYIP opportunity. Academically, my GSO experience helped me better understand the technology in which we used to monitor water quality parameters. The trip included lots of experiments and testing to determine pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen to name a few. These activities helped further solidify the skills I had developed during my schooling at the Marine Institute.

Fun facts about me

I am a big fan of music and fishing.

I would highly recommend GSO mobility experiences to other students. The trip was incredibly beneficial in the development of my communication and technological skills. It was very applicable to the things I had learned in my studies. I think other students would benefit from a GSO experience as I have as well. By immersing yourself in a different country, one experiences various challenges to overcome. These experiences prepare students for future opportunities and will therefore make them more employable. Working with people coming from different cultural backgrounds allows one to become a more well rounded team player. This also develops an appreciation and understanding of different perspectives. Thus helping the student view the world from a more global lens.
