Ara Indigenous Field School

This project built out and strengthened an already successful student exchange partnership between Camosun College and Ara Institute in Christchurch, New Zealand. Camosun Indigenous students engage in cultural, academic, and applied learning experiences in traditional, land-based, and classroom contexts. The field school program supports personal learning and growth, enhancing emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual development of self as well as capacity to make meaningful connections with and contributions to community. The field school program develops the participants’ life and leadership skills and prepares the students for their roles as leaders and role models in their communities.
