Building Capacity for U of A Indigenous Students to Participate in International Experiences

The University of Alberta identified increasing the participation of Indigenous students in international learning opportunities as the top priority in this innovation call. This project seeks to provide a better understanding of the needs and interests of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit student community and identify opportunities for Indigenous students across the many disciplines in which they are enrolled. A marketing campaign will also be designed to increase participation from this student group.

The program has equipped a new generation of students, from all backgrounds, with global skills necessary to meet Canada’s ever evolving labour market needs. It is now time to make the program a permanent part of Canada’s skills strategy and approach to international education.
