Building Global Competencies for Students in the Blue Economy

A key component of Marine Institute’s Internationalization Strategy is creating innovative globalized learning opportunities for all MI students. A central mechanism supporting its students’ success in their academic journey is to prepare them better to succeed in a diverse and a more interconnected globalized work environment. Through GSO funding MI enhance students’ global competencies, both through virtual programming and through meaningful experiential immersion in the Caribbean in the Blue Economy. Global competencies/experiential learning are imbedded in MI degree, diploma, and certificate programs through a pan-Institute initiative involving the active participation MI’s three schools (Fisheries; Ocean Technology; Maritime Studies).
