Enhancing Global Competence at Mohawk College through Virtual Exchange and Intercultural Orientation Development

The project comprised a Virtual Exchange between Mohawk College and The Jobs Academy (JAC) (Fondazione ITS per le nuove tecnologie per il Made in Italy) in Italy with the aim to build global understanding and intercultural competencies among students at both institutions. Workshops were embedded within a business course at each institution and students learned about working in a global context and intercultural perspectives. As well, an online “Pre-Departure Orientation” to prepare students for virtual and in-person global learning opportunities was developed which features modules on intercultural competencies, cultural awareness, EDI, the Canadian Indigenous experience and cultural adaptation.
