Guided short-term outbound mobility projects as gateways to a semester abroad

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) proposes to create guided, short-term, international mobility opportunities for students to increase their comfort level and prepare them for a full-semester abroad. Emphasis will be placed on recruiting disadvantaged students who do not typically study abroad. Projects will build on the ‘TRU wrap-around support program to prepare students for a study abroad experience’ created initially with innovation fund support. Once students complete the language and intercultural competency training, they qualify to participate in a guided, partially-funded, short-term mobility opportunity. Programming for this outbound experience will be co-created with international partners in non-traditional study abroad destinations.
