Indigenous Mobility Foundation Building

This collaborative project by BCIT Indigenous Initiatives and Partnerships with International entitled “Indigenous Mobility Foundation Building” included an environmental scan of existing Indigenous Student Mobility Programs offered by post-secondary institutions (PSIs) in Canada and abroad, and a literature review of best practices. BCIT also consulted with UVic and TRU, that have programs to gather lessons learned. We engaged with Indigenous students, Indigenous alumni, Indigenous youth in the urban community and Elders in virtual conversation circles to identify potential barriers and benefits to participation, design parameters (e.g. virtual delivery, role of Elders), desired curricula design, exchange destinations, and next steps.
