What I’ve been doing since my GSO experience

That experience truly shaped me as a person. It opened my horizon to the possibility of more knowledge, experience and learning. I believe all the new perspectives on health, healthcare and culture has made me a more well-rounded person and healthcare provider. As a RN, I care for people from all over the world. I now know to ask patient's on their needs rather than only implementing the standards North-American healthcare strategies. I believe I am more of a holistic healthcare worker and constantly seek opportunities to better my knowledge on cultural care and how it can work together with western knowledge (two-eyed seeing- an Indigenous way of incorporating healthcare and traditional remedies/knowledge.

Fun facts about me

I can speak 4 languages.

This study abroad opportunity allowed me to create intimate and profound lifelong friendships with individuals from all over the world. The connections I’ve made, whether academic, professional, or social will surely last a lifetime. I would have never been able to complete the study abroad without the GSO scholarship, and for that I am eternally grateful. Applying for the GSO scholarship was one of the best decisions I ever made. My experience give me heighted perspective of global health disparities as well as international perspectives of future solutions which I hope to implement in my own practice as a Canadian healthcare provider.
