Before going to Guatemala, I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to commit to trying for medical school, after graduating with my BA in Psychology. I found a confidence in myself, as I overcame all of the obstacles I faced during my GSO experience that I didn’t originally think I could overcome. This gave me the confidence to go for it!

Without the GSO funding, I would not have been able to participate in this life-changing program. A chance to study abroad is an experience that I believe everyone should have the opportunity to partake in. I grew in so many more ways than I could have ever imagined and if I could go back, I would 1000% do it all over again. The skills that I gained while there, the relationships that I formed, and the memories that I created will continue to shape me for years to come. Studying abroad not only allowed me to learn about a new culture, but also gave me the opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on life. I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams and explore the world around them, as there is no greater education than experiencing the beauty and diversity of our world firsthand.
