New Zealand – Global Indigenous Education and Māori Culture

Indigenous Initiatives, Education, and Student Services (IIESS) at Mohawk College is proposing travel to New Zealand for Indigenous learners and students who are enrolled in one of Mohawk College’s Indigenous courses. The travel experience will complement in-class learning and add to their understanding of Indigenous-informed global citizenship. Students will experience culturally appropriate traditions, thought, and practices from Māori communities; impacts of colonization and decolonization through an international lens; and relationships with the land from the Māori perspective. Students will gain course credit for participating in this experience, which will apply to their program of studies.
